Benfica’s president spoke about “external noise” last weekend and revealed that the strikers had submitted a disciplinary report to the Disciplinary Board.
Rui Costa revealed this Tuesday that Benfica submitted a report to the Disciplinary Board of the Portuguese Football Federation, remembering that the club is in charge of press charges and this is what was seen last week by others, in what he called. “external noise”, meaning, he says, the words of Vítor Baía and Sérgio Conceição.
“Benfica will do it [participação disciplinar], but it doesn’t have to. The Disciplinary Board was quick to open a case against Benfica not too long ago because of the news that appeared in the press, and Benfica should not present itself as such. You’ve reported all week something frustrating. It’s not even worth talking about weekends, but we know what causes the problem. We don’t have to be the ones claiming it. I’m telling you we did it before. This external noise should not be the condition of this competition”, he said in a statement at Humberto Delgado Airport, before the red team left for Milan, where on Wednesday they will face Inter in the finals of the Champions League.
The Eagles lost 2-0 in the first leg, at the Estádio da Luz.
