The Portuguese international defender Daniel Carriço announced this Friday, his farewell, in a message published on social networks and in which he testified to thank all the teams he represents, as well as the Portugal Football Federation.
At the age of 34, and after representing the Spaniards of Almería, in 2021/22, the central defender decided to hang up his boots, leaving a career in which he won four Europa Leagues, in the work of Sevilla, the Cup of Portugal and the Cândido de Oliveira Super Cup representing Sporting.
“The day has come to inform you that I am ending my career as a professional footballer. I am very happy that I have fulfilled my dream! Football has given me the best moments of my life, many victories and many unforgettable thoughts”. wrote Daniel Carriço, on Instagram, after 16 seasons of professional football, during which he played 372 games (14 goals scored).
Carriço was capped by Portugal once, after playing 31 minutes in a match against Italy in June 2015.
