If you use Chrome, you really need to be aware of Google’s emergency alert! There are thousands of people at risk and as such you really need to take measures to avoid being another victim. Google has released an emergency update for Chrome to address the first zero-day vulnerability exploited in attacks since the start of the year. That is, it is already being used by criminals.
Google Introduces Emergency Alert for Chrome!
The new version is already reaching users, but as with almost all Google releases, it is happening in phases. So it will reach the entire user base in the coming days or weeks.
Chrome users should update to version 112.0.5615.121 as soon as possible, as it addresses the CVE-2023-2033 vulnerability on Windows, Mac, and Linux systems.
This high severity vulnerability is due to an issue in the Chrome V8 JavaScript engine.
The bug was reported by Clement Lecigne of Google’s Threat Analysis Group (TAG), whose main goal is to protect customers from attacks linked to governments and other organizations.
Google TAG regularly discovers and reports zero-day flaws that are exploited in highly targeted attacks aimed at installing spyware on the devices of high-risk individuals, including journalists, opposition politicians and dissidents around the world.
Although Google has said that it is aware of this issue, it has not yet shared more information about these incidents.
In addition to this alarming warning, on the other hand, there is good news in the world of Chrome.
Over the years, Google has worked to make Chrome faster. However, this is not a very simple task. This is because this browser must run on many different computers and platforms. However, there aren’t exactly impossible missions and the latest set of speed improvements are focused on two platforms. So Chrome is faster on Android and Mac.
Chrome is faster on Android and Mac!
On Android, Chrome must work on many types of devices with different technical specifications. However, since it is not possible to put out all the fires at the same time, the search engine giant has focused on high-end devices for now. Now and thanks to the improvements implemented, Chrome manages to get 30% faster, which is excellent news.
In addition to this platform, Google was also concerned with improving speed on Macs. Thus achieving a 10% improvement over the past three months. This is very visible in Speedometer 2.1.
