According to a recent report Vinci, owner of ANA, Portugal is one of five countries – along with Serbia, Mexico, the Dominican Republic and Costa Rica – that reached passenger records between January and March this year. The document also noted that the increase in passenger numbers was due to “a rapid increase in the number of seats offered by the company”, operating on both flags Portugal and with lower fares.
Between January and March, Lisbon Airport handled more than seven million passengers. The number is an all-time high, up 14% from the year before the pandemic and up 58% year-on-year. Vinci says the increase is the result of Humberto Delgado’s “excellent” contacts with countries such as France, the UK or Brazil.
