SUkrainian troops have returned from a fierce battle near Bakhmut, in eastern Ukraine, Reuters reported on Saturday.
The Russian army has resumed its offensive against the defenders of Bakhmut after eight and a half months of ‘fighting’ to take the Ukrainian city.
Until recently, Wagner’s group led the campaign to conquer Bakhmut, progressing slowly and tiringly at the cost of thousands of lives on both sides. Now the regular Russian forces joined the plot.
The Ministry of Defense of Russia announced today that the army has captured two more areas of the city of Bakhmut in Ukraine.
The defeat of Bakhmut will lead to social cohesion and will also bring military skills to Moscow, because the control of the city will open the way for the Russian army to Kramatorsk and Sloviansk, the main centers of Ukraine in the east of the country. . However, if it does happen, it should not be certain about the outcome of the war.
On the other hand, Ukraine did not stop defending its “fortress”, although recently, Russian troops were able to go to the south-east and south-west regions.
We must remember that this region of Ukraine has been heavily affected by the war between the forces of Kyiv and Moscow, who continue to fight for control of the Donbass region.
In this context, the city of Bakhmut, in the Donetsk region, is one of the most victimized by Russia in recent months, with heavy bombings, forcing people to live in shelters or leave their homes.
Before the invasion of Ukraine a year ago by Moscow, it was home to about 70,000 people, but now it is a deserted town, with no ruins and ruins.
